Trapper Creek, Alaska is located near the historic Petersville Mining District, which has a rich history of gold mining. In 1905, someone first discovered gold in the area. By the early 1900s, there were several large-scale mining operations in the area. One of those including hydraulic mining operations that used water to blast away hillsides in search of gold.
